WWI Model 1917 Eddystone Bolt Action Rifle .30-06

A Model 1917 Eddystone, serial 1264465, made in November 1918 and chambered in .30-06 Springfield. The 26-inch barrel is a later service replacement marked H.S., flaming bomb and P, and the bolt is marked R. The bore is good with strong rifling; the metal has thinned to a light gray patina, and the stock shows handling marks but remains very good. The action is smooth and works correctly.

The 1917 was the main U.S. service rifle of the First World War, and this one went on serving after the war, as the replacement barrel shows. For a Texas owner it is both a collector's piece and a usable rifle: .30-06 is a centerfire deer cartridge, legal for the North Zone general season from November 7, 2026 to January 3, 2027, under a bag of four deer with no more than two bucks. A long, heavy bolt gun of this type soaks up recoil and shoots steady from a blind.
