A decorated sword cane attributed to the Ottoman Empire, found in Morocco in the 1950s and dated by the supplier to somewhere between the 1850s and the early 1900s. It measures 32 inches overall and hides a 17.25-inch triangular blade. Decoration runs the full length of the cane, and both the blade and the handle carry characters that resemble Arabic or Farsi but, as far as can be told, do not spell anything.
This is a display piece for the Texas collector of edged weapons and ethnographic arms, not a tool. The triangular blade section and the all-over ornament are its selling points, and the unreadable script is part of the puzzle: the piece may have been decorated for the look of writing rather than its meaning. It is sold as used, with no further condition grading in the listing, so request photographs of the blade and the joint before you buy.
