US Eagle Head Sword

Stock number SW1783 is a US eagle-head sword placed by the seller at about 1800 to the 1820s. Overall length is 36 inches with a 31-inch blade. The blade keeps a very visible amount of its original blue, and the tip has been polished. The handle is ivory and sits slightly loose. A brass scabbard is included, and the whole piece is graded very good.

This is a wall and cabinet sword for a Texas collector of early American edged arms, and the thing to notice is how much blue survives on a blade of this age; the polished tip is noted separately. The slightly loose handle is disclosed up front and is the one condition point to weigh against the very good overall grade. The brass scabbard rounds out the set. It is listed as used, which is how an antique of this type is sold.
