Houston buys a lot of 9mm service pistols, and the new CZ DUTY 4.0 gives Gulf Coast shooters a fresh choice in the optics-ready class. CZ built it striker-fired around a serialized internal chassis, with a fiberglass-reinforced polymer frame, a 4-inch barrel and a slide that takes a direct-mount red dot over fixed sights. Four models cover the line: C compact, F full-size, and an MS thumb-safety version of each.

From Sugar Land and Pearland down to Galveston and over to Beaumont, the typical buyer wants one gun for the nightstand and the truck, plus carry where allowed. The F full-size at 17+1 and 143 mm tall is the home gun; the C compact at 15+1 and 135 mm is the one that disappears under a fishing shirt in August. Trigger pull is 5.6 pounds either way, with a 4 mm reset, and the MSRP is $729.

The F is the service-size frame: 143 mm (5.6 in) tall, 780 g (27.7 oz) with an empty magazine, 17+1 rounds of 9mm on board and 19+1 with the extended base plate. The longer grip fills a big hand and settles the gun between shots.

MS stands for external safety. This model adds a thumb lever to the passive safeties every DUTY has: the firing pin block, the trigger safety and the trigger bar safety. Agencies and owners who want a positive on/off control choose this version; the trigger itself is unchanged.

Three things define the DUTY 4.0. First, a serial-numbered modular chassis: the serial-numbered part is inside, the frame module around it is modular. Second, the trigger, a striker SFDA rated at 25 ± 4 N (5.6 ± 0.9 lbs), 4 mm (0.16 in) reset, 9 ± 1 mm (0.4 ± 0.04 in) travel, which is short and repeatable for a service pistol. Third, a direct-mount optics-ready slide, shown by CZ with Holosun, Aimpoint and Shield dots fitted, so a optic sits low without a stack of plates.

Best fit: home defense, duty use, competition and long range sessions where the extra grip and two more rounds matter. Shooters coming from a CZ 75 will recognize the grip angle; owners coming from any other striker gun will notice the trigger first.

Pick your model, then choose the Texas dealer you want it shipped to. Texas has no permit to purchase and no waiting period; your dealer runs the background check at pickup, usually in minutes, and the pistol goes home with you. Ammo, optics and gear ship to your door. Stock and price are confirmed live when you order, ahead of payment.

Questions buyers ask: How fast is pickup at a Texas dealer? Texas has no permit to purchase and no waiting period; your dealer runs the background check at pickup, usually in minutes. Is the DUTY 4.0 barrel threaded? No. All four models ship with a 4-inch unthreaded barrel and fixed sights; the slide is cut for a direct-mount optic. Is the CZ DUTY 4.0 F MS the same gun as the F? Yes, apart from the manual thumb safety. Chassis, trigger, slide and the 17+1 capacity are identical.
