A DWM first-issue Navy Luger, serial 858, made in 1906 and offered under stock number PR69849. It is the unaltered first model, and the feature that marks it is the safety sitting in the downward position. All parts match except the magazine, which is of the correct type for the gun. The pistol has been expertly restored and is in excellent condition as restored.

Unaltered first-issue Navy Lugers rarely come up, and this is the sort of gun a serious Texas Luger collector builds a collection around. It is a safe and display piece; the restoration and the matching numbers are the facts to weigh, and the seller is open about both. The purchase is handled like any other handgun in Texas: no permit, no registration, photo identification and Form 4473 at a licensed dealer, and a current License to Carry can replace the federal check at most dealers.
